Suggested IntercessionsSuggestions for the Intercessions (Sunday 29 October 2006)

Almighty and ever living God, hear the prayers of those gathered in this Cathedral church today. Pour out your grace on all our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world, in particular on your people in the Church in the West Indies, in the Dioceses of Winchester, and of Agder, Norway. Bless John our Archbishop and all the people of this diocese, especially the people and parish of Taney, and their clergy Desmond Sinnamon and John Tanner. We ask you to bless the work of the Diocesan Councils, the Diocesan Office and its secretary Keith Dungan. Guide the thoughts and actions of the Dean and Chapter of this Cathedral, of the Board and helpers in the Cathedral, and of all who come to visit and to worship here from near and far.

Lord in your mercy ...

Let us bless the Lord, because he has delivered us from all our fears.

Lord in your mercy ...

God of all the nations, look with compassion on all the peoples of the earth. Give your support to the women of this world, who may work tirelessly for their families under dangerous conditions, yet have no say in the policies that tear their countries and homes apart.

Lord in your mercy ...

We pray for our President, Mary McAleese and for the common good, and for those with whom we have daily contact. May we treat with compassion those who, like blind Bartimaeus, are cut off from our world by physical defects of eyes, ears or limbs, and smooth their paths in our society.

Lord in your mercy ...

Loving Father, help all those who are sick or in special need of your aid. In a moment of silence we ask your blessing on those with whom we share this world; and pray for your healing for those written in the visitors’ book of prayer, and also for Joe, Michael-John, Georgiana, Marie, Lucy, Kathleen, Ray, Mary, and Pansy.

Lord in your mercy ...

O Lord, the Ruler of this world and the next, we thank you for the witness of all Saints and all Souls who have died in your loving arms. May we share with them the joys of your eternal kingdom.

Merciful Father, accept these our prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
